The following names can be found in historical sources for this estate: The so-called Haus Destel, the Freihaus Destel, the Gut Destel, the Rittersitz Destel, the Große und Bestenhaus zu Destel.
in 1439, the Destel estate was first mentioned as the fiefdom of von Status Schloen gen. Tribbe is mentioned for the first time. In 1777, the Leverner church register reports on the Freyhaus Destel. This house stood in Halingerort, the current address is Goldhagen 5. However, it was not a manor with a manor house, moat and park, but probably more of an ordinary house. The owners of the Destel house were probably of noble descent. They were exempt from the usual taxes of the time, hence the name "Freihaus".
in 1759, Friedrich Karl Schultze, pastor in Buer, married to Demoiselle Amalia Neuhaus von Dessel, owned Freyhaus Destel. From 1777 to 1789, the magistrate Johann Christian Friedrich Goldhagen (*1738) lived in the Freyhaus with his family. He died there on 25.12.1789 and was buried on the site on 29.12.1789. Goldhagen was a magistrate of the Probstei Levern. Other names for his office were Stiftsjustitiar or Stiftsamtmann.
Between 1801 and 1826, a Mrs. Holle was the owner of the Destel manor house. According to the royal Prussian district and municipal court of Rahden, in 1827 "the massive house in Destel on the former Goldhagen, later Holle estate was sold to the hunter Wilhelm Langenberg von Hüffe". The site is still owned by the Langenberg family today. A few years ago, the remains of old massive foundation walls were discovered on the property, which presumably date back to the time of the Destel estate. The current street name "Goldhagen" is a reminder of the former owner of the house, Justice Goldhagen.
